Skincare Routine

We all know how good skin can help us feel confident and pretty. And you know what? Good news! It’s not only a matter of DNA but it also has to do with your skincare routine. I know that the skincare products can be confusing and you might not know which products to use and in what order. But don’t be scared, I’ll show you step by step how to easily take care of your skin.

One of the first questions you might ask yourself is, why do we need a routine? Well, as you know we all have different skins and is it important to use the right products, and in the right order. This helps us ensure that all the ingredients can penetrate your skin and that it receives the benefits of each product.

Convinced? Let’s see together the basic steps of a skincare routine you can use morning and night.

  • STEP 1: CLEANSER

Although washing your face too often can dry the skin, it is essential to clean it properly with this in mind:

  • In the morning, you can simply splash the face with warm water or use a gentle face cleanser.
  • At night, it is important to do what is called ‘double cleanser’. First, start removing your makeup with your usual makeup remover or an oily cleanser. Then, you can clean your face with your regular cleanser to remove excess sebum, dirt or leftover makeup.

  • STEP 2: TONER

Not everyone knows what a toner’s purpose is.

To put it simply, a toner removes all the leftover residues from the cleanser and helps to repair the skin barrier by returning its pH levels back to normal. It can smooth, soften and calm skin, plus restore nutrients to it. You can apply it delicately with a makeup remover pad all over your face.

  • STEP 3: EYE CREAM

We all want to prevent fine lines or collagen loss in the eye area. This is why we need to protect our more delicate skin by applying an eye cream twice a day. It maintains the health and thickness of the eyelid and prevents the loss of laxity. You will also protect your fragile eye area from your other skincare products. I’d recommend applying eye cream in the morning and at night, before going to bed.

  • STEP 4: SERUM

Applying a serum is a great tool to target a specific skincare concern. Serums are made with very small molecules that can penetrate deeper into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. Depending on the serum, you can use it once or twice a day, but ensure that you’re applying it at least once in the evening since this is when the cells regenerate.

  • STEP 5: MOISTURISER

To use the moisturisers efficiently, I’d recommend applying it while your skin is slightly damp to seal its moisture. It will prevent your skin from drying out, and slow down the aging process. Moisturising your skin also helps to hydrate and keep it smooth, so use it generously!

  • STEP 6: SUN PROTECTION

Probably the most important step to be used only for your morning routine.  Sunscreen will definitely help protect you from the harsh Australian sun and UV rays, and by the same time, prevent you from the first signs of aging.  The good news is you can often find it mixed in your day cream, which can have SPF protection.
